If i understand your question correctly, I assume your query is
regarding streaming and believe you know that, In videos there is something
called progressive media and streaming. Let me explain both to clear things
in Air
Progressive Media
---------------------------
This technology is old. The videos are in the usual
location of webserver. When the user play a video, the entire video is
downloaded to your system cache and the videos are played as and when your
system cache certain limit. Here, after you have watched a video, you can go
to your system cache and watch the video from them.
Streaming
---------------
Install an app Windows media server/Flash server/Quicktime
server in your webserver and upload the videos there. When the user watches
the video, it is not stored in your system cache.
I don't think, have a custom OS will send the videos efficiently.
Apparently, it's the internet Traffic that you need to be concerned about.
There are companies which offer products to accelerate the web contents in
