I have an HP Pavilion Laptop dm4-1009TU. Operating System already present as manufactured : Windows 7 home 64bit. HDD : 320GB Ram : 4GB Processor : intel Itanium Processor i5
*Here comes My Problem Statement:* 1. 280GB is set as a Single Drive ' C ' for Windows. Remaining 17GB as Recovery Partition and the rest for some internal storage. 2. Now i want to install Ubuntu in this laptop as a dual OS, so i tried to split the 280GB partition into a half by Disk Management tool of Windows which they provide. 3. After i split it, it says that is unallocated. When i try to use that partition to create a new file system using the same tool, it shows an error message stating that " Dynamic Disk or clusters cannot be used to create a new partition". So again i joined that splitted space into the same. 4. Now i got an idea of trying to resize the 280GB partition by running Ubuntu as Live. i resized as a half of 280gb and even in this Ubuntu partitioner it says it is unusable and am not able to change the properties of this unusable space splitted from it. Hope, understood my problem. Finally am trying to create a New Partition Table , Whether it ill leave windows back as it is or it ill format entire disk even though i resize my 320gb as some logical partitions and leaving the beginning part without formatting and using other splitted partitions as ext4 file system to format it? Please help me. I am now running Ubuntu as Guest in Windows using Virtual Box. But i want to use it as Dual os. Need help soon. -- PuduvaiLUG (puduvai Linux Users Group): http://puduvailug.wordpress.com/ Visit the Blog to know my experience with LINUX: http://prasopensource.wordpress.com/ _______________________________________________ ILUGC Mailing List: http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
