Hi all, Just wanted to share some interesting information.
In one of our PHP projects, we are using JQuery/TreeView plugin to show a tree with about 1200 leaf nodes approximately spread out through 5 main and 15 sub branches each. Look at the performance of the rendering in various browsers. Each node has got 3 links which call a JavaScript function. Chrome : Approx 1-2 Seconds Firefox : Approx 2-3 Seconds Safari : Approx 2-3 Seconds (In Mac) IE(8) : Approx 65 Seconds << No typo. 65 Seconds. And complaining every now and then that the script might have a problem and requesting permission to shut it down! Unfortunately, the project has to work in IE. It is a corporate tool. Well, I am not ruling out that there might be some problems with our code's architecture and (or) malformed HTML?? We are working on it now. But look at the comparative results!
