Hi all, I'm actually re-opening a topic that abruptly ended a few years ago. I wanted to upgrade memory on my laptop, and I had no use for the outgoing memory module, and selling it would save me some money nevertheless, so I ended up selling it for half the price to a gentle soul at a conference I was going to attend by posting on this list. There were objections to this because of the potential spam of what that would entail, and I concurred.
Since then, I've only acquired more gadgets, and I'm sure most of you do on an ongoing basis. I've been thinking about this again, because I for one would like some flexibility about selling stuff on ILUGC, because you cannot possibly ask for a better audience. For example - I'll probably getting rid of two memory modules, an old Android phone, and maybe even my recently-acquired Kindle if I prefer the hackability of a Nook better. It would be nice if we can allow at least such second-hand sales among members with the appropriate tag. I'm very much aware that it might open up a pandora's box of hardware dealers trying to sell stuff, but is it really that much of a problem? We have been self-moderating on a lot of issues, so can't we manage this too, when the benefit is also there? Can we try it for a few weeks and see where it goes? Perhaps most importantly, is there any other LUG which allows this and didn't get inundated with spam? I'm aware that there's eBay.in and probably a few more places where I can list this stuff, but this forum comes with the added advantage of trust, and less of a hassle because most of us know each other and/or local. I'm not even sure if it's an entirely a good idea, but if you have some ideas, I'm ears. Vamsee. _______________________________________________ ILUGC Mailing List: http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
