On the NFS servers, how will you mount the shared iSCSI volume? > Which FS will you use to format the iSCSI volume? Ext3/etc are not > cluster aware, ie, you cannot mount the same block device from > multiple servers at the same time. > > I was assuming creating a LVM device out of multiple exported raw iscsi volumes and then formatting them with ext3/4 and then exporting them. But I get the point as to why use gfs.
However, now I am confused about using separate iSCSI servers. What I was aware of was... that the san exporting raw device over IP would be an iSCSI export else an FC export in case it uses the FC fabric. i.e. Those devices can then be discovered on a Linux/Any server and then formatted with a files-system. 1. Why are there 2 iscsi "servers"?? What is their role. 2. Do they first discover raw device from FC SAN and then export them as iSCSI devices? 3. Are the iSCSI devices discovered on multiple GFS servers and then formatted? Lots of question popping up.. I need to do homework.. Will ask when am more clear on some concepts...
