Hi,
Recently i am using ubuntu 10.4. How to use Compiz and where to install?
You can run the following commands to install compiz from the terminal (To open terminal, goto Applications->Accessories->Terminal)

sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager simple-compizconfig-settings-manager

It will ask for your password. Once you type, it will also ask whether you wish to install the software. Press 'y' and it should be installed. You can check in "System->Preferences->Simple CompizConfig Settings" or something. Sorry, don't have my Ubuntu in front of me so cannot say the exact name :)

How to see installed applications in ubuntu like in windows XP->Programs->Installed softwares?

Two places. "Applications->Ubuntu Software Centre->Installed Software" (easiest) or "System->Administration->Synaptics Package Manager". Here search for the application you wish to know if it is installed. It will have a tick next to it.

HTH.

Abhishek
