I guess I belong to the previous generation though I am not very old.

But today's kids get a chance to learn programming and computers quite early on.

In my case I first saw a computer in my 11th class in the Kavaratti
island, the capital of Lakshadweep in
 Arabian sea.

I was once told by my lecturer Mr. Hameed Koya that software could
turn one into a millionaire overnight.

Then I started my career back in '98 and I was working during the dot
com boom and when everyone was going
in search of greener pastures.

I thought making millions was easy by technology and innovation.

But innovating is not easy (in fact it is not even possible) without
programming.

And this is a sad fact that nobody seems to understand.

Programming is everything. Today if they teach C programming in school
then surely we are going in the
right direction.

Does that mean that I would not have to teach people programming? This
does not seem to be the case.

Not that I am very good at it myself but at least I realize the value.

In short creating millions and building a true career for oneself is
not possible without sheer programming effort coupled with
technological innovation at the big picture level.
