plug in the usb disk and then wait for a few seconds (~ 5 seconds) and see what you have in the kernel log ( run the command "dmesg | tail -n 30" on a terminal). Copy paste the output of that command in a reply so that we can see if it is just an error with the partition table (or something similar) or a bigger issue.
