A bit presumptuous. If it's a valid need, it's relevant.
Vamsee.
Indeed its not relevant.
People are using debootstrap+kernel-*-di package to install Debian on
any device which is capable of running Debian. Once I installed base
Debian(testing) by downloading <200MB without X. debootstrap have option
to download packages straight from debian(testing/unstable).
debootstrap just downloads <100MB, debian-installer will download other
packages based on our selections. AFAIK, It will take 400-500MB to
install fully functional Debian(with X, Office etc).
In this way we don't need to waste our bandwidth by first downloading
debian(stable) and then changing repo sources and upgrading to
debian(testing/unstable).
Also creating DebianInstallUSB using syslinux+netinst image is more
easier than the above method. Only the base debian will be installed.
You have the choice to install other things. One disadvantage is, If you
want to go for debian(testing/unstable), you need to install base
debian(stable) first and then upgrade that base system to
debian(testing/unstable).
In both method, we can install latest fully functional debian in <600MB.
Thanks
