Well I dunno about Centos.

You need to edit zone files and so on. They have an arcane syntax.

In OpenBSD you have a chrooted named that drops privileges and runs securely
 with a non root user ID.

Everything is preconfigured.

All you need to do is have a line

named_conf=""

in /etc/rc.conf.local file.

And reboot.

You get a fully functional DNS server.

It is that cool.
