Like what Thyagarajan said, normally micro controller apps are designed to use the serial port unless of course you have a specific reason such as high speed communication etc. A word of caution through - Setup the parallel port in the BIOS setup as standard SPP. Otherwise you will have to implement the corresponding protocol in the micro controller hardware and software.
