This question is either asked by somebody who does not know how to frame questions or deliberately convoluted with insufficient information Let us break it down. 1. What information is needed : ip address or mac address? 2. How can the client machine transmit *anything* without some kind of OS installed in it? In case the alleged client is a device, of course RTFM. and look around in the device for some indication of mac address One method to find the MAC address if the machine is plugged into a managable switch and looking into switch configuration or alternately do an snmpget from the server. If you have a new machine or network card, most likely MAC address can be ound on the label. if you want more information, you will need to provide more specific info.
