I have been using Reliance for the last one year. I had a 144kbps and
now I have upgraded it to a 3.1 GB card.

Inside chennai, I have had connection problems in Tnagar, other than
that I have had a good time with it.
> 2. good coverage inside Chennai city, and to some extent in other metros
I have used it in chennai, bangalore, madurai and some interiors of
Tamilnadu. Metros have a good speed, while small cities of tamil nadu
have you can have slower connection(you can browse if you have
patience).

As said above, Reliance have some slower fall back.
> 4. offer unlimited data plans for simplified billing
I would not say Reliance has the best of the plans available. I recently
heard that BSNL has a unlimited plan which costed less. But not sure of
their coverage.

> 5. Debian compatible hardware
I was able to configure Reliance with a my ubuntu desktop. However it
was not straight forward. Ubuntu treats my Reliance card as a memory
stick(actually it has some exe which gets auto executed in windows). So
had to do some teaks to get it working.

Hope it helps.
