I am not aware of any shrink wrapped tool that would switch display in fullscreen mode. conky is what my friend uses. And you have gkrellm applications and a whole bunch of Xwindow stuff and wmaker applets but they are all really tiny. You are better off doing it yourself and publishing it in sourceforge with nice screenshots.
