I personally do not have any issues with the choice on the server side.  

After all, it is the service provider's freedom to choose that.

However, the problem arises when that service provider forces the 
consumer to a specific platform (Windows) and browser (IE and sometimes 
a specific version!).  That is a bigger problem IMO.  The people who 
develop such sites do not bother about compatability with browsers 
other than IE.
