Dear all, I am not able to guess how many of you nurse a dream to create an open source project.
There is a lot of satisfaction one can get by creating an open source program. But the real challenge here is getting a massive userbase and getting a lot of people to use your creation. I have done some very interesting projects, developed cool products and so on but I worked for companies which could not utilize my creations appropriately. There have been cases when they cannot be blamed at all. They simply don't have the marketing reach necessary to promote something. There have been cases where they are not even able to assess the value of the creation. This I am sure is not my experience alone. Many individuals worldwide will be facing this strange situation. The open source world solves a lot of such problems and many more. Anyway see my page here: http://spamcheetah.sf.net I have also published it in freshmeat. By and large the experience was very enjoyable more from a technical standpoint than anything else. The tools that sf.net gives for uploading to their website and their worldwide download mirrors is fantastic. Please start a sf.net project whenever you find the opportunity! Best of luck.
