Benjamin Mako Hill argues that we should be clear that we are doing
FOSS because of our principles:

I generally agree with this except that my principle (as someone puts
it in the comments section) is:
 Sharing and discussing programs is fun

So using proprietary systems can compete only because of the other
principle:
 Reverse engineering is fun

However, the latter is sometimes declared to be illegal fun --- which
kind of takes the fun out of it. ;-)
