You have not specified your configuration yet. So we cannot comment
about the motherboard. Anyway. Fedora 7 is much older a release.

Depends on the system again. However on most (99%) of the systems it
should work. If you can wait for a week, get Fedora 11. Or grab
Fedora10 today :D

You can give the specs of your pc. Also, try logging in in single user
mode (In the grub screen, press e while Fedora is highlighted in the
list of OSes.  Go to the line that says kernel .... and to the end of
the line, add the word single or the number 3).
