Hi, I addressed the following topics for a Free Software workshop at NBKR Institute of Science and Technology, Vidyanagar, Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh, India on Saturday, May 2, 2009: * Career opportunities with Free Software * i-want-2-do-project. tell-me-wat-2-fedora. * Mailing list guidelines * Communication guidelines * Fedora sub-projects * Embedded Systems concepts
I would like to thank Rajesh Sola, Lecturer, for organizing the workshop, and for coordinating with me for the past couple of months for this workshop. The CS labs have Fedora installed. I have given them Fedora 10 DVDs and stickers (thanks to Rahul Sundaram) which they can distribute to other engineering departments. Pointers to Fedora mailing lists, IRCs have been given to the students. Vidyanagar is around 140 km from Chennai. The National Highway 5 (NH-5) is quite good. By road, it will be a 2-hour drive. The closest railway station is Gudur station, and the Institute is around 25 km from the station. The lab facilities are quite good, and the students were quite enthusiastic during the workshop. It would be good to do a one or two-day unconference, if possible, at the Institute as it will cater to nearby Nellore, Kota, Tirupathi, Vakadu, and Gudur regions. It is possible to go a one-day workshop and return the same day to Chennai, or, the guest house facilities are equally good if overnight stay is required.
