The general feel was that MySQL will actually do better since it is in the hands of real DB experts. Also, what is GPL will remain GPL. So all they can do (at their evilest) is to stop contributing to the code. Also, they might project MySQL as a lighter-small business product and Oracle DB as an enterprise product and say "If you want more, try the real tried and tested DB solution -> Oracle DB"
Also OpenOffice, JBoss, Java, Virtualbox, Glassfish and Netbeans are safe. But again one person stated that Mysql was likely to be jettisoned. The state of OpenSolaris is unknown, but it was said to have been mentioned once. Solaris is safe though. If all fails and MySQL dies, it is time to shift to the more standards-compliant Postgres. --- Ashok `ScriptDevil` Gautham _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, email ilugc-requ...@ae.iitm.ac.in with "unsubscribe <password> <address>" in the subject or body of the message. http://www.ae.iitm.ac.in/mailman/listinfo/ilugc
