This is not enough information for anyone to help you over a mailing
list.
Some sample questions of the type you should answer:
1. Are you using text-mode console or GUI when the system hangs?
2. After the "hang" and before pressing reset button have you tried any
of the following?
(a) Ctrl+Alt+F1 --> should give text-mode console
(b) Alt+Sysrq+K --> should kill the X server or the current login
(c) Num Lock/Caps Lock --> Appropriate led's should come on or
off.
3. 5 minutes is enough for you to record your dmesg output and/or the
output of lspci -v and/or the output of acpitool. Can you provide
these outputs?
If you really want to debug the FC10 crash you need to answer
questions like those above.
As far as I understand it, Fedora Core is a distribution aimed
at "developers" --- in particular, this means that you should be
interested in debugging problems with your system (at least to the
extent of filing complete bug reports) if you run FC. The same applies
to Debian "testing" or Ubuntu six-monthly releases.
For a system aimed at "users" you should look towards RHEL/CentOS or
Debian stable or Ubuntu LTS or ... . Of course, on such a system you
will not get the "latesht" software by default but you will not have
to debug problems with such software either! If you need to run such
software it is safer and better to use some form of virtualisation to
run it so that crashes will not affect your system as a whole. For
example, FC10 will probably run quite well in kvm or qemu or
virtualbox. Setting up such a virtual system takes less time and
eventually involves less pain than debugging hardware issues.
Regards,
Kapil.
P.S. Note that "developers" and "users" are within quotes since I
think that it is not a black-and-white classification.
