did you really ask the students to stop demoing and even thought of asking them to leave? that is very unfortunate unless there were strict guidelines that was previously communicated to the speakers. When you say 'civilized' that includes treating guest speakers with respect and dignity. I don't suppose we need a linux moral police :-)
Sarad. [Ilugc] fossconf-09-negative side Raman.P raamanp at yahoo.co.in Mon Mar 2 12:16:00 IST 2009 Dear luggies FossConf-09 is over. Here are somethings I felt bad a.Powerpoint and Windows based slide show from NRCFOSS. b.WiMAX from Bannariamman College. This was on non-free licence. We asked them to stop demoing and only talk about concept. c.Online Insurance from SACS Engg college Madurai, which was on Websphere and DB2. I didn't want to create a scene by asking the (b) and (c) to get out, as they were innocent students, who really didn't realise the nuances of FOSS. We politely told them to talk about the design, concept, alogorithm etc, duly avoiding the software side. I apologize for the mistakes. We should have taken more care. We passed on the responsibility to the students team, as TCE team is well aware of FOSS and its philosophy. Anyway no point in blame game, the mistake is a mistake.. Let me accept it. We will be stricter next time.
