One question which is worth asking in such mixed environments is: Who helps to manage the machines? Typically, if you buy a product then you are entitled to support for that product, so the burden of support for Windows machines *must* be passed on to the vendor you bought them from (or MicroSoft). It *is* harmful to FOSS if FOSS developers spend a lot of their time making such machines work instead of completing their FOSS projects.
