Yes it is more expensive in India but 2 options which worked for me- Technologic systems has a distributor in Hyderabad - Analogic Systems They sell the TS-7300 (200 Mhz ARM 9, 32 MB RAM, 800X600VGA, 2USB, 2Ethernet, 55DIO, 9 COM ports, 2 SD card slots and user programmable FPGA) for about 14K. This might be expensive for hobby, but for business it is a good deal! This is also available ex-stock in India. If you need, I have the complete debian based dev tool chain in a SD card for this. Advantech has a lot of distributors in India for x86 based Geode Single Board Computers. Very simple to use, very familiar x86 environment. Has a 300 Mhz processor with VGA, 2 USB, 1 Ethernet, Parallel Port and 2 serial ports. Can even connect an IDE to boot. Default boot is from Compact Flash. I am able to run X without any problems. This sells for around 13K.
