How about adding some filters to the mailer?
I've implemented this on other lists, to
majordomo's 'taboo headers' pattern list:

        /^Subject: Antigen found/
        /^Subject: Virus Notification/
        /^Subject: Virus Alert/

The list maintainer gets the error message
(taboo header found), and can notify the list
_gracefully_.
