 |Except that this requires completely eliminating existing behavior and
 |as we repeatedly have seen, transitions take decades, if we are lucky.
 |So the premise of 'leave the From Header alone' is appealing but very
 |unlikely, in practice.

The IETF lists are an explicitly bad example as they consciously
break DKIM signatures *without* rewriting the From: header.
For example my DKIM signatures will be broken down the line --
i do not have a DMARC DNS entry --, noone cares for that. That is
the worst possible way of doing things, really. In which "isolated
space" can someone *think* that??
(I will forward this email to [rt5.ietf.org #38946].)

With DKIMACDC the status quo of properly administrated
mailing-lists at least remains the same, it is just that the user
interface of receivers *can* adapt.
However, over time it *may* become possible to do better, but this
is not part of the (still incomplete) draft.

 |But again, my original point on this sub-trhead is that Author: is
 |trivial, not fragile, and based on constructs that have been used in
 |email from its start.  It does not address the larger problem, but it
 |does address From field munging.

Yes! It is, as i said many times before, sheer unbelievable that
those giants which prodded for that immature, inconsistent
technology do not care for at least this little sanity!!

(P.S.: off-topic to your email etc, but i read the review of the
DKIM2 document -- i actually did not know it before --, and in my
opinion *that* DKIM2 is nothing but a continuation of the path of
total over-engineering and over-complexity that brought email to
the state where it is. I say this to the list, but as part of
that very email here. That road is wrong -- imho.)
