The IESG has received a request from the Source Packet Routing in Networking WG (spring) to consider the following document: - 'Introducing Resource Awareness to SR Segments' <draft-ietf-spring-resource-aware-segments-17.txt> as Proposed Standard
The IESG plans to make a decision in the next few weeks, and solicits final comments on this action. Please send substantive comments to the [email protected] mailing lists by 2026-04-07. Exceptionally, comments may be sent to [email protected] instead. In either case, please retain the beginning of the Subject line to allow automated sorting. Abstract This document describes a mechanism to allocate network resources to one or a set of Segment Routing Identifiers (SIDs). Such SIDs are referred to as resource-aware SIDs. The resource-aware SIDs retain their original forwarding semantics, with the additional semantics to identify the set of network resources available for the packet processing and forwarding action. The proposed mechanism is applicable to both segment routing with MPLS data plane (SR-MPLS) and segment routing with IPv6 data plane (SRv6).
