The IESG has approved the following document: - 'DNS over CoAP (DoC)' (draft-ietf-core-dns-over-coap-19.txt) as Proposed Standard
This document is the product of the Constrained RESTful Environments Working Group. The IESG contact persons are Gorry Fairhurst and Mike Bishop. A URL of this Internet-Draft is: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-core-dns-over-coap/ Technical Summary This document defines a protocol for exchanging DNS messages over the Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP). These CoAP messages can be protected by (D)TLS-Secured CoAP (CoAPS) or Object Security for Constrained RESTful Environments (OSCORE) to provide encrypted DNS message exchange for constrained devices in the Internet of Things (IoT). Working Group Summary The WG has reached broad agreement and strong consensus on this document, with little controversy. Document Quality There are two known implementations, whose status is described in the document (see Section 7). There is a close interaction between the protocol specified in this document and the DNS ecosystem. The document has notably received reviews from DNS experts, including Ben Schwartz and Tim Wicinski, both as early DNSDir reviews and during Last Call. Personnel The Document Shepherd for this document is Marco Tiloca. The Responsible Area Director is Mike Bishop. _______________________________________________ IETF-Announce mailing list -- [email protected] To unsubscribe send an email to [email protected]
