The IESG has approved the following document: - 'Unsigned X.509 Certificates' (draft-ietf-lamps-x509-alg-none-10.txt) as Proposed Standard
This document is the product of the Limited Additional Mechanisms for PKIX and SMIME Working Group. The IESG contact persons are Paul Wouters and Deb Cooley. A URL of this Internet-Draft is: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-lamps-x509-alg-none/ Technical Summary This document defines a placeholder X.509 signature algorithm that may be used in contexts where the consumer of the certificate is not expected to verify the signature. As part of this, it updates RFC 5280. Working Group Summary There was very little controversy within the working group. The biggest point of discussion was to assign separate object identifiers for algorithm identification and naming. Document Quality Some code has been written. Google has shared a sample certificate with a placeholder object identifier for naming. ASN.1 is used. Once a placeholder values are inserted for the module identifier and the naming identifier that will be assigned by IANA, the ASN.1 modules in Appendix A compiles without error. There are no media type registrations, or other techniques that require review. Normative reference to an Informational RFC: RFC 5912 (already in the Downref registry) Personnel The Document Shepherd for this document is Russ Housley. The Responsible Area Director is Deb Cooley. _______________________________________________ IETF-Announce mailing list -- [email protected] To unsubscribe send an email to [email protected]
