Technical Summary

This document discusses specifying subsets of the Unicode character
repertoire for use in protocols and data formats.

Working Group Summary

This document is AD Sponsored, and has been discussed on [email protected].

Early on there was also discussion of an adjacent draft:
draft-bormann-dispatch-modern-network-unicode
It seemed slightly more ambitious, and there was discussion of potentially
forming a working group.
There was discussion regarding how these 2 drafts fit together with PRECIS.
This lead to the inclusion of text and some registration requests in the
PRECIS registries.
During the last call, it became clear that this document is adjacent to
PRECIS, and that these registration requests were not necessary.

Document Quality

The document describes historic and current practices, as noted in the
shepherd writeup several of the subsets are already in use, e.e., as XML text.

Personnel

The Document Shepherd for this document is John R. Levine.
The Responsible Area Director is Orie Steele.
