The IESG has approved the following document: - 'Internet Message Format' (draft-ietf-emailcore-rfc5322bis-12.txt) as Internet Standard
This document is the product of the Revision of core Email specifications Working Group. The IESG contact persons are Murray Kucherawy and Orie Steele. A URL of this Internet-Draft is: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-emailcore-rfc5322bis/ Technical Summary This document specifies the Internet Message Format (IMF), a syntax for text messages that are sent between computer users, within the framework of "electronic mail" messages. This specification is a revision of Request For Comments (RFC) 5322, itself a revision of Request For Comments (RFC) 2822, all of which supersede Request For Comments (RFC) 822, "Standard for the Format of ARPA Internet Text Messages", updating it to reflect current practice and incorporating incremental changes that were specified in other RFCs. Note that this standards action promotes this document and its companion document to Internet Standard. Working Group Summary The emailcore working group’s charter was to perform a “limited review and revision” of documents that describe a widely installed and used protocol. Participation in the emailcore working group was generally limited to a dozen or so individuals, owing in large part to the group’s work being focused on revising fifteen year old documents that are themselves third-generation revisions of originals first published in 1982. When reviewing this document, it is strongly suggested that you refer to: https://author-tools.ietf.org/iddiff?url1=rfc5322&url2=draft-ietf-emailcore-rfc5322bis Document Quality These are very well established protocols. Implementations, commercial and open source, abound. No particular reviewers that haven't already weighed in are critical to forward movement here. Personnel The Document Shepherd for this document is Todd Herr. The Responsible Area Director is Murray Kucherawy. RFC Editor Note: Please create a cluster to include this document as well as draft-ietf-emailcore-rfc5321bis and draft-ietf-emailcore-as. _______________________________________________ IETF-Announce mailing list -- [email protected] To unsubscribe send an email to [email protected]
