Please read the bottom of this message about parking and parking passes.
In this day of GPS because of some street closures you could get messed up so I am forewarning you about two street closure issues when getting to the US Sailing Center for the ICSA National Semi Finals. When coming north on the 405 Freeway you are likely to be told to Exit on the 7th Street (or Hwy 22) Exit. However this offramp closed a few weeks ago for over a year. Thus you should take either of the two previous offramps. They are Seal Beach Blvd. or Westminster. If you take Westminster (recommended) simply go West on Westminster until it becomes (yes the street name changes as you cross Pacific Coast Hwy) 2nd Street. If you take Seal Beach Blvd. then go South (sort of West also) until you come to Westminster then turn right and go west on Westminster. I have created a google map with lines "showing the way". The US Sailing Center will appear as the "Pacific Coast Sailing Foundation" on a google map when you zoom in enough. When you are on 2nd Street your GPS will probably tell you to turn left on Bayshore. This is fine if it is not between 9am and 5pm. Bayshore is closed during these hours for the local Spring Break (this week). If it is during these hours simply proceed past Bayshore to the next left which is Santa Ana. Turn left and go to Ocean Blvd.. You won't be able to turn left on Ocean as you would like so turn right and then make an immediate U turn. Then go through the Stop Sign (Stopping of course) and about 1000 yards past the Stop Sign on your left is the US Sailing Center. We will be issuing Parking Passes during registration (and on Friday afternoon if you arrive early). There is free parking on the street near the Sailing Center but that will probably fill up. The parking passes will provide free parking in the meters near the Sailing Center and/or in the parking lot at 54th and Ocean (where the stop sign is). This lot is about 1000 yards from the Sailing Center. We will have a shuttle van running from 8:30am to 9:15am and then again later in the day as will be discussed at the Competitors Meeting. There will be a representative in the parking lot with parking passes until 9:15am, after then come to the Sailing Center for a pass. Parking at the Belmont Pier (where the Sailing will take place) costs $1 per hour. We will be running a shuttle at the beginning and end of the "sailing day" from the US Sailing Center to the Belmont Pier and back. Sorry for the convolution but welcome to "living at the beach"!
