In the words of The Who’s Pete Townshend, it was “Another Tricky Day” on the
St. Mary’s River. . .

SAT
Breeze started from the North and shifted almost as far as Northwest before
coming back to the North. On several occasions one division would have a huge
shift only to have the other division have just as enormous a shift in the
opposite direction. A difficult day for sailors and RC alike! Several auto
tacks (gybes too) resulted in capsizes. One significant head injury due to an
unexpected gybe required a trip to the hospital (she is ok). Several races
had to be abandoned as they were deemed not to have been a fair test of
sailing. Ten races were completed in both divisions with a 420/FJ boat swap
coming after race 9.

SUN
Breeze went from North to Northeast (“Bridge Breeze”) and was both unstable and
unreliable. After consultation with ICSA rep. Mike O’Connor, the PRO, Stan
“The Man” Hyatt, the regatta chair decided to give up the wait at 1:30pm and
end the regatta at 14 races. Of course, this meant that at 2:20 a beautiful
sea breeze filled in at a steady ten knots.

Congratulations to Yale on a consistent performance in anything but consistent
conditions who edged BC by 4.

Barbara Herbig chaired on protest with Keisha Pearson which resulted in one
DSQ. A request for redress from the University of Hawaii in race 7b was
granted due to an error in scoring.
