A very tricky shifty day on the St. Mary’s River! Breeze started from the North and shifted almost as far as Northwest before coming back to the North. On several occasions one division would have a huge shift only to have the other division have just as enormous a shift in the opposite direction. A difficult day for sailors and RC alike! Several auto tacks (gybes too) resulted in capsizes. One significant head injury due to an unexpected gybe required a trip to the hospital. Stan “The Man” Hyatt drove up to MD from Florida for the right to serve as PRO in these trying conditions. Several races had to be abandoned as they were deemed not to have been a fair test of sailing. Ten races were completed in both divisions with a 420/FJ boat swap coming after race 9.
Barbara Herbig chaired on protest with Keisha Pearson which resulted in one DSQ. A request for redress from the University of Hawaii in race 9b will be heard first thing in the morning. Yale leads by 5 points over BC. Prizes courtesy of Sailfly will be presented at the conclusion of racing Sunday. http://scores.collegesailing.info/s11/st-mary-women-intersec/ ________________________________________________ icsa mailing list [email protected] http://www.collegesailing.org/mailman/?listname=icsa Unsubscribe: Send a blank email to [email protected]
