These are the results for: Friis/Marchiando Team Race @ MIT/Tufts April 5-6
Lynne Marchiando Team Race Intersectional, Round 1
MIT
April 5, 2008
Boats: FJs
After a long lack-of-breeze delay, sailing got underway around 2 PM. Breeze
filled in from the WNW, finally settling in around NNW at 2-6 knots. A complete
round robin was sailed with 4 protests filed. After 4 public protest hearings,
there were three DSQs, resulting in a three way tie for 3rd. Two sail-off races
(umpired) were sailed to determine which two teams would go on to the Friis
Trophy. Courses were a digital N. Congrats to Yale for winning the first round,
and to St. Mary's, Boston University and MIT for also qualifying to move on to
Tufts.
Thanks to Sebastian Sovero and Leigh Casadaban for helping with finishes, Dayan
Paez and Toan Tran-Phu for assisting with scoring, Carl Zimba, John
Tagliamonte, and Rip Hale for Judging and Umpiring, Wally Corwin for shore
duties and to Fran Charles for executing and running smooth races.
