FINAL RESULTS
REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS:
Saturday: The top freshmen teams in college sailing were greeted by beautiful
weather and N/NW winds of 4-9 knots. Conditions were very shifty and
challenging and kept the racing extremely close except for Boston College who
mastered the first day and has a 24 point lead. Courses were Gold Cups and
Triangle/Windwards. One protest filed resulting in a DSQ for Tufts. Thanks to
judges Jen Bauer (Brown '06), Evan Freedman (Brown '06), and Avram Robbins
(Brown '04.5) for keeping a close eye on the racing. Thanks as well to Brown
sailors Ben Siegal '08 and Keith Hankins '08 for helping out.
Sunday: The freshmen showed up to a quick dying northerly and warming
temperatures. Race 7A was attempted at 10:05am and abandoned after one and a
half legs. Competitors were postponed on land until noon when a light S/SE
breeze filled in and built to 4-6 knots. Four A races and four B races were
completed by 3:45pm to finish off the Freshmen AC Regatta. All courses were
Gold Cups. No protests were filed. Thanks again to our judges and the
additional help of Chase Hogoboom (Brown '03) and Charlotte Lipschitz '10.
Congratulations to Boston College for winning the event for the third year in a
row.
