Time periods in Icinga 2 have initially been designed to allow for
alternative implementations. There have been related experiments, but as
far as I know no other implementation has ever been published.

states that "If you are familiar with Icinga 1.x, these time period
    definitions
are called legacy timeperiods in Icinga 2."

Does that mean that there are other types of timeperiods, in
    addition to the
legacy ones, now available in Icinga2?

If so, where can I find information about how to define / use them?
