I made a beginner’s mistake. In the section “The instance should report its
check results to an existing Icinga 2 master” I set the instance name to
my2ndwindowsmachine and then I set host to icinga2machine. Changing the
instance name to icinga2machine fixed it.

Thank you very much for taking the time.

Hi,

you configured 2 endpoints with the same name (my2ndwindowsmachine) in
C:\ProgramData\icinga2\etc\icinga2/zones.conf

Just open that file and make sure that the endpoints are unique.

Best regards,
Marcel

Betreff: [icinga-users] Windows client install problem

  1. Open ports 5665/TCP In and Out
  2.  Install Icinga2-v2.7.1-x86_64.msi

I’m testing out Icinga2 after having been on Icinga1 for ages now. I have
Icinga2 up and running and have successfully added 5 Linux machines and 1
Windows machine for monitoring. The problem started with the 2nd then the 3rd
Windows machine. I keep getting this error at the end of the installation.

Running command 'icinga2.exe daemon --validate' produced the following output:
---------------------------------- cut here ----------------------------------
information/cli: Icinga application loader (version: v2.7.1)
information/cli: Loading configuration file(s).
critical/config: Error: Object ‘my2ndwindowsmachine’ of type 'Endpoint'

                                                   ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
C:\ProgramData\icinga2\etc\icinga2/zones.conf(16): }
C:\ProgramData\icinga2\etc\icinga2/zones.conf(17):
---------------------------------- cut here ----------------------------------

If I open an administrator console and run icinga2.exe daemon –validate from
C:\Program Files\ICINGA2\sbin I get the same error. I thought it was a fluke so
I moved onto the next machine but I get the same error there too.

Does anyone have any ideas about this?
