Dear list,

I built a demo setup with one master, several satellites and several "clients" which are checked by the satellites. All satellites are located within their own zone.

Master zone: "master"
Satellite zones: "dc1", "dc2", "dc3"
Global zone: "global-config"

The "clients" are located in one of the DCs.

Now, let's say I want to define a service which affects multiple clients in all zones. Those services need to be executed by the satellites. Where would you define this apply rule? In the global zone on the master? This would be "bad practice" IMHO, but I don't know any other way when I want to avoid placing configuration multiple times.

Let's say I want to define an apply rule which affects some clients in only two of three zones. Where would you place the relevant configuration file? Within the master zone or would you duplicate the definition and place one for each zone?

It would be great to see/read what you guys did in similar situations. Please also feel free to point me to relevant docs in case I have missed them.

Please excuse if this question was already asked or answered here or somewhere within the documentation - I was not able to find it.

Best regards
Valentin
