Hello,

It’s my first message here. I’m a french system administrator working as a
consultant essentially on OS X and OS X Server, plus some additional UNIX.

I’m using icinga v1 for a while now without any problem. One instance per
customer.

Now I’m looking at icinga 2 and the distributed mode.

I’m not sure to understand it properly so I’m here to ask if it suit my needs
or nor.

What I’m looking for is to setup independent icinga instance, one per client,
and adding a central instance to retrieve services state. The config must be on
the customer side, not on mine.

In a more schematic way:

- on customer site:
- icinga agent
- icinga config
- icinga web for local view

- on my servers:
- icinga web who can show remote state

If I’ve correctly understand icinga 2, it’s not suitable for my needs since the
config is centralized and then distributed to the remote site.

It's doable using the remote clients with local configuration, and running node
update-config etc on the master on the received inventory.

But I’m not really sure about about what I’ve read.

So I prefer to ask :-)

Best regards,
Yoann Gini
