They reasoned that noone used it anyway and that there is an issue when you cluster several icinga instances (each instance had its own global counter, so collissions were possible). We now identify notifications with host/service tupels.
There is just one problem with that: If you create an interface independant to Icinga and if the interface is down for a while, it is possible that you miss an OK, so the incident is never closed (until the next incident happens). Of course it is possible to regularly check the icinga state of each host/service in trouble, but that's a workaround and not a solution. It would be great if there was a way to synchronise host/service states in an asynchronous manner. This would be even better than a global counter. I wonder whether there already is a solution for this scenario? Or did anyone already plan to create such a feature for Icinga 2?
