As I was looking through the command-plugins.conf file, I discovered
another conf file with definitions for a package called Manubulon.
When I looked through the file, it looked like it provides a solution
to some of my next monitoring tasks (disk usage and network speed).
I browsed the Internet, found the home page, but it looks like it is
no longer being maintained. I also ran across the dnsmichi GitHub of
the source, containing some bug fixes.
Is Manubulon still a good option for SNMP based monitoring or is there
a better option?
It's the best option for standalone plugins providing the functionality
one requires the most imho (interface, disk, etc). There are certainly
other plugins and addons around doing that in a better or similar way,
but for example monitoring your nas system, or any other snmp enabled
linux system, these plugins perfectly fit the requirements.
Some of the plugins use a local tmp storage for calculating data, so
you'd rather test them before putting them in production.
Is the dnsmichi GitHub the best place to obtain the module (I have not
found an RPM for CentOS)?
I'm collecting patches over there, based on the svn/cvs import a while
ago. These patches are used for the Debian packages in a similar
fashion, and others do use those patched plugins as well
(monitoring-portal.org users for example).
I haven't seen much activity by Patrick Proy, the original author of the
Manubulon plugins, and have therefore kept these patches on github. If
someone wants to maintain the plugin collection, or send updates to
manubulon, feel free to do so (I don't have time to maintain/support
external plugins next to my work on Icinga).
That's merely the reason why you'll only find it using google, and not
directly linked on the Icinga 2 documentation.

I will upload them to exchange.icinga.org for easier search when my
backlog from Icinga Camp+vacation is finished (weekend or so).
kind regards,
Michael
