Icinga 1.x is a fork of Nagios and has rigorously maintained compatibility
with it, to the point where there have been many cool things we've wanted
to do or have been asked about that we've had to reject to keep that
compatibility (hence why Icinga2, because it doesn't share code with Nagios
and doesn't have that same burden.)

If you know how to do something in Nagios, you pretty much know how to do
it in Icinga 1.x. There are some exceptions but they are usually things
that Icinga can do, that are not possible/available with Nagios because the
Icinga Team always strives to add more and better things.
