Not sure if it ever got resolved - a quick search on the dev tracker for
'output column' unveils these issues.

Thing is, that the extjs used is not very reponsive so static sizes must
fit the smallest layout possible (1280x... sounds reasonable these days,
also for tables). Icinga Web 2 will resolve that issue being reponsive
at all cost.
I've just updated web.demo.icinga.org to 1.11 so you may check that by
yourself now if the current version resolve that issue at least a bit
for you.
You may still change the width on the grid manually and save that as
custom cronks, if you prefer that way.
