No, there is no such defined date yet. I am not a web dev either, but by following the activity stream you might get an idea what's going on [0].
Other than that, my colleagues at Netways will do a (german) webinar [1] about Icinga Web 2 soon-ish, and on CeBit this year, live demos are to be expected [2].
And i would assume that there will be updates on the icinga blog [3] once there's something to test/showcase/ask :)
