Yeah, I thought there was a nagios plugin for it, but, as I said in
the OP it's been a long time since I used Nagios (or anything else for
that matter, I spent five years out of IT for medical reasons).  I
suppose my question now is how do I setup Icinga2 to use that plugin?

Is it very different from how I had to set up Nagios to use the
check_ping plugin?
