z/OS Version 2 Release 4 MVS JCL Reference, SA23-1385-40 The example on pages 94-95 of z/OS Version 2 Release 4 MVS JCL Reference, SA23-1385-40, is unclear. I might guess that the Converter makes the RECFM V or VB when it sees two lines of differing length, but nowhere can I find a statement to substantiate that. The text needs an explanation of how the LRECL is determined for instream datasets, and the text in the second data line should refer back to that explanation.
