As far as DISPLAY DUMP command, D D,E,DSN=ALL is executed in an effort to get useful information if/when it's available. NetView PIPEs provide some pretty useful parsing options, so matching data set names with related information from the display isn't too difficult. It just seems that sometimes data sets on disk get "orphaned" and don't have corresponding information in the command output.
