assumptions, misconceptions, irrelevancies, etc.

As to the long-forgotten original question, JCL DDNAME is a rarely useful
feature.  It is supported by neither DYNALLOC nor ALLOCATE.  I'm not sure
what the OP thinks it does, but it probably doesn't.
