I am considering what upgrade path (if any) I might take from my current z/OS 2.1 RSU 1903 system. I thought that I wouldn't go to 2.3 because I was using SMTP and not CSSMTP. The configuring and implementation of CSSMTP has proven remarkably uneventful. I am not aware of any other gotchas between 2.1 and 2.3 or above. I run four monoplex LPARs. I really don't "coexist" in the sysplex sense. I am considering getting s 2.4 Serverpac when available and making the jump. I do need to be concerned with fallback. I know it's mostly speculation at this point, but does anyone know of z/OS 2.4 fallback maintenance that won't be available for 2.1? Or gotchas I haven't noticed.
